My
story is no more extraordinary than that of most people I
know, but in its simplicity I hope it may be refreshing to
some? In this hectic and uncertain world that we now find
ourselves, I hope I may be able to transmit a little peace
and tranquility that was part of so many people's lives not
so many years ago.
That
quality can still be found, but the key to the mind may have
been lost temporarily? Let me see if I can release it, turn
it in the lock and let those beams of sunlight refresh the
corners that have lain dormant in the shadows of a busier
world.
The
people of Exmoor work hard but do enjoy the pleasures of country
life. Young and old will work hard to pay for the country
pursuits they so love - hunting, fishing, shooting, horse
shows, Point to Points etc.
My work has been entertaining to its fullest and has introduced
me to countless people. pubs, hotels, point to Pointers, and
show ponies, racing and hunting, clerical and secretarial.
I have met a succession of colourful 'local' characters
who has spanned the area since the days of Ernest Bawden to
Bob Nancekivell and more recently Norah Harding and Captain
Ronnie Wallace.
