Matthew lived on the outskirts of Wheddon Cross for fifteen years so it seemed quite fitting that he should choose Cutcombe Show and Gymkhana at Dunkery Hill Gate in June to finally release ‘My Exmoor Scrapbook’. A book of memories written about half his life, thirty years on Exmoor, almost coinciding with both his sixtieth birthday and the anniversary of his arrival at the beginning of the hot summer of 1976.

Having taken great pleasure from reading the books by Hope Bourne, he was particularly pleased to be able to present her with the first signed copy and hopes that she will be able to find something comparable to her vast experiences of the moods and magic of the moor.

Matthew Shadbolt passed away on February 4th 2007 aged 60 after a short illness.
Matthew was laid to rest on Friday 16th February at Cutcombe Church on Exmoor
